Trail Work on Tipsoo Peak
August 12, 2023
For Military and Veteran Affinity Group ONLY
- Service Members and families
- Veterans and families
- Gold Star and Surviving families
It is an exciting trail work event on the scenic Tipsoo Peak Trail with breathtaking views of Mt. Thielsen, Mt. Bailey, Diamond Lake, Maidu Lake, and other features. You will feel like you are on top of the world! It is a family-friendly event and we host it specifically for military and veteran affinity group including family members of all ages. Spend time with your family, connect with others in this military and veteran affinity group, and get a glimpse into experiencing volunteerism with a specific purpose. This trail needs to be maintained and trail work will include brushing and tread work. Our trail crew leads who are military veterans are excited to lead this trail work event. The trail is in the old-growth forest and there is shade.
Recommended to stay the night before and/or after to reap the full benefits of being outdoors including stargazing and watching the Perseid meteor shower. There are several great locations for staying overnight in close proximity to Tipsoo Peak Trailhead:
Diamond Lake Resort (camping, cabins, and RV sites)
**Update 7/26/2023: As mentioned above camping locations are already fully booked, but we've been diligently searching for an alternative option and it is the beautiful Thielsen Forest Camp. We'll be working on reserving several sites to accommodate all participants, so stay tuned for further updates in the coming days.
The trail is within the Umpqua National Forest which is within the ancestral homelands of Native people of the Umpqua, Southern Molalla, Yoncalla, and Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians who have called this forest home since before Mt. Mazama erupted to form Crater Lake 7,000 years ago.
Meeting time: 9 am on August 12th, 2023 at the Tipsoo Peak Trailhead, Umpqua National Forest, Oregon. Driving Instructions
